The patient was a 73-year-old male with “recurrent left knee pain for more than 40 years, aggravated for six months.” He was admitted to the hospital. He had no swelling of bilateral knee joints, no skin lesions, 8° of inversion deformity, 0°-70° of patellar grinding test (+), floating patella test (-), drawer test (-), normal skin sensation, normal dorsalis pedis artery pulsation. x-ray showed degenerative changes of the left knee joint. The diagnosis was: osteoarthritis of the left knee (advanced stage). After admission, he underwent left total knee arthroplasty under combined lumbar and rigid anesthesia, and was given symptomatic supportive treatment such as anti-infection and anticoagulation after surgery.
