1.Shoulder joint pain
Rotator cuff injury in the early stage, pain is intermittent, after exercise and night lying to the affected side when the symptoms are aggravated, after rest to reduce; shoulder lifting, pain is obvious or aggravated; playing high ball and kill often shoulder pain, reduce high ball and kill training, the symptoms will be reduced some.
The acute pain of rotator cuff injury is severe and persistent, and the symptoms will be aggravated after shoulder activity or after increasing the load. If passive external rotation of the shoulder joint can also make the pain worse.
2.Shoulder joint dysfunction
In severe rotator cuff injury, active shoulder supination, external rotation and abduction functions will be limited. Among them, the range of shoulder abduction and forward lift are less than 45°, but the passive range of motion is not significantly limited.
3.Muscle atrophy
Atrophy of the supraspinatus, infraspinatus and deltoid muscles is common in those who have had the disease for a long time.
4.Friction sound in the glenohumeral joint
This is a rubbing sound in the glenohumeral joint during active or passive activities, and is common in people with severe rotator cuff tears.
Treatment of rotator cuff injury
Rotator cuff injuries are divided into two conditions: rotator cuff tendinitis and rotator cuff tears. The majority of rotator cuff injuries are rotator cuff tendonitis, which can be recovered with timely comprehensive treatment, while rotator cuff tears require surgery. Here we focus on the treatment of rotator cuff tendinitis.
In the early stages, the main focus is on reducing pain and inflammation, followed by physiotherapy and medication, rehabilitation training to improve general adaptability and strength-load exercises to promote healing and functional recovery of the injured tissue.
Step 1: Reduce pain and inflammation
Treatment methods are the same as those for other soft tissue injuries, with five main areas.
1, rest. If you want to move, in order not to cause pain in the affected area is appropriate.
2, ice. In the acute phase of pain or after each activity, continuous ice packs for 15 minutes.
3. Compression. Apply pressure to the shoulder joint and use a brace to protect it during the period of increased pain.
4. Anti-inflammatory drug treatment.
5. Physiotherapy. Microwave, laser and electrical stimulation are all beneficial to local recovery.
Step 2: Promote the healing of injured tissues and functional recovery
1. Rehabilitation exercises. Mainly in the pain-free parts of the low-intensity resistance strength training, exercise must master the intensity and amount, pay attention to avoid re-injury.
2.Physiotherapy.
3.Improve overall physical quality.
4.Avoid overloading the shoulder and arrange the shoulder exercise load reasonably.
Rehabilitation exercises for rotator cuff injury
There are several simple exercises that you can follow to help you recover from rotator cuff injury.
Prepare an elastic band and fix it to a wall, door or under your feet. Practice 3-4 times a week. At the beginning, do 1-2 sets of 5-6 reps per movement; then increase the intensity of the exercises to 10-12 sets of 2-3 reps per movement, depending on the recovery situation.
