Shoulder well point is the name of a meridian point, and its exact location is in the scapular region, at the midpoint of the line connecting the outermost point of the shoulder crest and the spinous process of the seventh cervical vertebra.
Shoulder well point belongs to the foot-shao-yang bile meridian, is the meeting point of the foot-yangming, hand-foot-shao-yang and yangwei veins, and is an important point for the treatment of the shoulder and neck.
This point is used to treat localized diseases, such as stroke, scrofula (lymphatic tuberculosis of the neck), paralysis of the upper limbs, mammary carbuncle (breast abscess), postpartum lack of milk, stagnant labor (difficult to give birth), breast fetish (painful lumps in the breast, closely related to the menstrual cycle and changes in emotions and moods, equivalent to mammary hyperplasia), and other breast and gynecological disorders, and is also used in the treatment of shoulder and back pain and strong neck pain.
Due to the presence of the tip of the lungs at the shoulder well point, it should not be stabbed deeply, and pregnant women are prohibited from needling. Daily attention should be paid to the warmth of the neck and shoulder area to avoid pain and discomfort caused by cold.
