There’s a bump behind my earlobe that hurts when I touch it. What’s wrong?

A bag behind the earlobe that hurts when touched may be caused by swollen lymph nodes behind the ear, sebaceous cysts or folliculitis.
1. Enlarged lymph nodes behind the ear: There are many lymph nodes behind the ear, and when a bacterial or viral infection causes an inflammatory reaction in the lymph nodes, the lymph nodes may become enlarged. If a small bag appears behind the earlobe and feels painful when touched or pressed, it may be swollen lymph nodes behind the ear.
2. Sebaceous cysts: the sebaceous glands of the skin behind the ear are more exuberant in secretion. If the sebaceous gland ducts behind the ear are blocked, sebaceous cysts may be caused, resulting in the formation of a small bag behind the ear. If there is a small bag behind the earlobe, accompanied by local pain or even localized inflammation, it is considered a sebaceous cyst.
3. Folliculitis: The sweat and sebaceous glands behind the ear secrete exuberantly, which can easily lead to the blockage of hair follicles and trigger inflammatory reactions of hair follicles. If there are small bags or even pustules behind the earlobes, accompanied by local redness, swelling and pain, which may cause pus in severe cases, then it is considered as folliculitis.
It should be noted that, if the pain behind the earlobe small bag is obvious, you should promptly consult the doctor to confirm the cause of the disease, and under the guidance of the doctor to carry out targeted treatment, to avoid delaying the condition.
