The benign or malignant nature of pure ground-glass nodules can be assessed according to the size and morphology of the nodule, and the gold standard is pathologic examination. 1. Size: Grinding glass nodules less than 5mm are mostly benign nodules without clinical manifestations, do not need special treatment, and need regular review; if the grinding glass nodules are between 6-8mm, especially larger than 10mm, they need to be taken seriously, and with the larger the nodules, the higher the chances of malignancy. 2. Morphology: CT imaging examination reveals pure ground-glass nodules with lobular sign, short burr, pleural pull sign, pleural depression sign, etc., the possibility of malignancy is higher, but not except for benign lesions. 3. Pathology: Pathological examination is the gold standard, and the benign or malignant nature of the nodule can be clarified by percutaneous puncture or pathologic examination after surgery. Pure ground-glass nodules in the lungs are mostly benign. If the nodules are caused by inflammation, they will shrink or disappear after anti-infection treatment. If the nodule is obviously enlarged with solid growth, it should be alerted to the possibility of early lung cancer, and should be examined in the hospital as soon as possible and surgically resected.
