What causes bone spurs to grow

Bone spurs are grown due to the influence of changes in histology, pathology, biomechanics and other factors.
1. Histological factors: early cartilage surface cracking and breaking caused by various reasons, so that the chondrocytes proliferation, repair, edge of the bone, bone redundancy hyperplasia, resulting in the emergence of bone spurs.
2. Pathological factors: various causes lead to cartilage damage, subchondral bone sclerosis, and bone spurs appear due to the proliferation of marginal bone.
3. Biomechanical factors: abnormal stress and abnormal weight bearing accelerate the degeneration of articular cartilage, cartilage swelling and osteosclerosis, aggravate cartilage destruction, and the vicious circle leads to the appearance of bone spurs.
In addition to the above factors, osteoporosis, excessive loss or insufficient supplementation of calcium can aggravate the occurrence of bone spurs. The presence of bone spurs should be treated as early as possible to avoid delaying the condition.
