Pupil dilation refers to dilated optometry. It is possible for children to swim after pupil dilation, but it is not recommended to choose outdoor swimming.
Dilated pupils are a safer way of examining the eye after paralyzing the ciliary muscle that controls the crystalline lens, causing it to lose its ability to regulate. Swimming indoors will not cause eye discomfort or affect the results of the astigmatism test, so your child can swim after the astigmatism test.
As the amount of light coming into the eyes increases after an astigmatism test, it can cause photophobia. Therefore, when the outdoor light is strong, you need to wear sunglasses or sun hat to reduce the discomfort caused by photophobia.
Close-up eye use, including reading, writing and the use of electronic devices, should also be minimized.
When the child dilated optometry, if eye discomfort occurs, it is recommended to go to the hospital ophthalmology department in time to avoid delaying the condition.
