What to do if a child has chickenpox

Chickenpox in children can be treated with daily care, symptomatic and antiviral therapy. Chickenpox is an acute infectious disease, caused by varicella-zoster virus infection, manifested as red spots, papules and blisters on the skin surface. 1. Daily care: isolate yourself at home, avoid going to public places, open windows more often to keep indoor air circulation; reduce scratching to prevent secondary bacterial infections. 2. Symptomatic treatment: chickenpox can be cured by itself. Mainly take symptomatic treatment, if the herpes is not ruptured, you can use topical glycerin lotion to stop itching; when the blisters are ruptured, you can use antibiotic ointment such as mupirocin to prevent infection. If the blisters are ruptured, antibiotic ointment such as mupirocin can be used externally to prevent the infection. If fever occurs, oral antipyretic drugs such as ibuprofen suspension can be taken. 3. Antiviral treatment: Oral antiviral drugs can be taken within 72 hours of the appearance of the rash to shorten the duration of the disease and reduce the severity of chickenpox, and acyclovir can be used for children over 2 years old. When children have chickenpox, they should go to the dermatology department of the hospital in time for diagnosis and medication under the doctor’s guidance.
