The need for surgery after ankle ligament tear is mainly determined by the severity of the patient’s ankle ligament tear, some do not need surgery and some do, as follows: 1. No surgery: If the patient’s ankle ligament tear is relatively light and the joint stability is very good, there is no need for surgery for such a patient. Usually a brace or plaster cast is given for external fixation, bed rest, active elevation of the affected limb, and higher than the heart, which is more conducive to promoting venous return and facilitating the reduction of swelling, and some topical ointments can be used locally to activate blood circulation and remove blood stasis. 2. Under good anesthesia, surgical treatment for ligament repair and reconstruction is needed, and postoperative anti-inflammatory and anticoagulation treatment is required.
