There are two treatment options for ankle ligament tears in terms of major aspects: first, conservative treatment; second, surgical treatment. The conservative treatment mainly adopts external fixation of plaster or polymer splint, which needs to be fixed for about 4-6 weeks during the acute period of the injury, and after 4-6 weeks, the external fixation should be removed and the functional exercise of the joint should be done. During this period, the affected limb should be elevated, microwave physiotherapy, blood circulation and blood stasis medication, and cold compresses should be applied within 48 hours of the injury. After strict conservative treatment is ineffective or after detailed medical examination, it is determined that the ligament tear is difficult to heal, and surgery is eventually considered.
