How to treat torn ankle ligaments

Torn ankle ligaments can be treated by the following methods: First, conservative treatment, mild ankle ligament tears, i.e. incomplete tears, can be treated with external fixation in plaster or external fixation in braces to promote gradual repair of the ligament. It usually takes 4-6 weeks to remove the external fixation and restore the normal activities of the ankle joint, but try not to play strenuous sports for three months. Second, surgical treatment. If the ankle ligament tear is more serious, i.e. complete tear, surgical treatment is needed before the swelling occurs or after the swelling subsides to restore the continuity and integrity of the ligament, which includes stop point reconstruction and ligament reconstruction. Patients also need to undergo rehabilitation after surgery to strengthen the strength of the muscles around the ankle joint in order to finally protect the ankle joint and promote the repair of the ligaments.
