Is it necessary to do postnatal rehabilitation

The need for postpartum rehabilitation should be decided at the 42-day postpartum review based on the examination results, and if the pelvic floor function is not recovering well, postpartum rehabilitation should be performed. During pregnancy, the abdominal muscles of pregnant women separate due to the growth and development of the fetus. During delivery, the vagina and surrounding pelvic floor tissues dilate and the muscle fibers elongate or tear, resulting in relaxation of the pelvic floor muscles. Most of them can return to normal on their own within 1-3 months after delivery and no rehabilitation is needed. However, some mothers have poor recovery of pelvic floor function, which may lead to complications such as organ prolapse and vaginal wall bulge, and may affect sexual life. If the vaginal wall bulge is severe, there may be tension incontinence and leakage of urine after laughing or coughing. Such women must undergo postpartum rehabilitation and choose a suitable treatment plan after a pelvic floor functional muscle assessment. Besides, you should avoid strenuous exercise for a short time after delivery, do not perform heavy physical labor, do not do squatting, keep bowel movements smooth, avoid dry stools, avoid increasing abdominal pressure, as well as do not have sex too early, pay attention to a balanced diet, keep warm, keep your mood happy and get more rest in order to promote physical recovery.
