The risk of recurrence after hysteroscopic polypectomy is between 4% and 10%, so if the pathology suggests a simple endometrial polyp, it does not mean that the treatment is completely finished, especially in young women, when there is a possibility of recurrence. To reduce the possibility of recurrence, it is advisable to consider the administration of short-acting oral contraceptives or levonorgestrel intrauterine delayed-release system to reduce the possibility of recurrence of polyps. Hysterectomy may also be performed in women with recurrent polyps and recurrent abnormal uterine bleeding who do not require fertility.
