Paraspinal emphysema of the upper lobes of both lungs is not curable, because emphysema is a disease that cannot be cured for the time being. Emphysema is a type of lung disease in which various factors lead to an abnormal expansion of the lung volume, and its cause has not been fully clarified for the time being. Emphysema can be categorized into three different types: central alveolar emphysema, total lobular emphysema, and paraseptal emphysema, depending on the structure of the involved alveoli. Paraseptal emphysema of the upper lobes of both lungs means that the lesion is confined to the upper lobes of both lungs. Because emphysema itself is incurable, the pathological changes caused by the disease are permanent and cannot be reversed. Therefore, there is no cure for either upper lobe paraspinal emphysema or any other type of emphysema, and regular treatment can only control the symptoms and slow the progression of the disease. Individuals who are screened for bilateral upper lobe paraspinal emphysema should follow their doctor’s instructions for intervention.
