According to the survey of National Dental Defense Organization, the rate of children suffering from dental caries at the age of 5 is as high as 77%. In order to protect children’s dental health, many parents prefer to choose fluoride toothpaste when buying toothpaste. Fluoride can enhance the anti-acid of dental calcium and at the same time inhibit the fermentation of bacteria to produce acid. According to the research, fluoride toothpaste does have certain anti-caries effect, which can reduce the caries rate by 28% at most, and the content of sodium fluoride in general fluoride toothpaste is 0.22%. Recently, some scholars have found that 1/8-1/4 of toothpaste is swallowed every time you brush your teeth. Although the amount swallowed each time is very small, using fluoride toothpaste every day and accumulating over time will easily cause fluorosis, and the sequelae of fluorosis are difficult to be cured. Therefore, consumers should be careful in choosing fluoride toothpaste and be more cautious in using it, so as to prevent “fluoride” from being a disaster. Fluorine is a cumulative poison, which is quickly absorbed into the body and deposited in teeth and bones. Excessive fluorine absorption will lead to malformation of teeth, softening, loss of enamel luster and yellow spots, and in heavy cases, underdeveloped teeth and loss of normal form. High concentrations of fluorine can be very harmful to the human body, affecting the development of teeth and bones and causing chronic fluorosis such as fluorosis and dental fluorosis, and causing acute fluorosis such as nausea, vomiting and cardiac arrhythmia. This is exactly why the Belgian government will ban the sale of fluoride health products, including gum, oral tablets and oral spray containing fluoride. At present, studies have confirmed that the maximum safe daily fluoride intake for adults in China can be up to 3.4 mg, and the maximum safe daily fluoride intake for children aged 7 to 15 years is 1.9 mg to 2.1 mg. Experts from the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) remind us that we should pay attention to the following when choosing fluoride toothpaste: (1) It is available in low fluoride areas and prohibited in high fluoride areas. The fluoride content in drinking water is lower than lPPM can be used, higher than 2PPM should not be used. (2) Heavy industrial areas cannot be used. (3) The elderly should be cautious, because people over 50 years old have reduced organ functions, endocrine disorders and osteoporosis, so if they use fluoride toothpaste, it will undoubtedly add fuel to the fire. (4) Children are prohibited. Because children are not yet skilled in using toothbrushes, they may accidentally ingest fluoride toothpaste and endanger their health, while scientific experiments have also found that dental fluorosis usually occurs in infancy, especially during the critical period of dental development of children before the age of 6. Toothpaste should not be swallowed into the abdomen. When brushing teeth, you should pay attention to the amount of toothpaste used. It is best to use only the size of a soybean grain at a time, up to 1 cm. (5) Before using fluoride toothpaste, children must be educated to prevent fluoride poisoning, master the correct method of brushing, and thoroughly remove the toothpaste residue from the teeth after brushing, not to mention swallowing the toothpaste and mouthwash into the abdomen.
