In the composition of Jiawei Xianglian Pill, Huanglian can clear heat and dry dampness (removing heat and drying dampness) and stop diarrhea and dysentery; Scutellaria baicalensis and Cyperus rotundus have the effect of clearing heat and drying dampness; betel nut, thick park, Citrus aurantium dulcis, Yanhuisuo, and Muxiang can work qi and relieve pain (relieving pain by regulating the human body’s qi mechanism); Paeonia lactiflora and Angelica sinensis nourish the blood and relieve pain; Cornu Cervi Pogostemonius warms the middle Jiaozhong and drying dampness to stop diarrhea; and Licorice regulates the properties of the medicine.
