Having an angiogram helps to unblock a woman’s fallopian tubes and make them open, which for some women helps to get pregnant. During a tubalogram, a catheter is passed under pressure from the uterine cavity into the fallopian tubes and a contrast agent is injected into it. The contrast material is visualized under x-ray or ultrasound to determine whether the tubes are open and where the blockage is present. This procedure has some effect of unblocking the fallopian tubes, so tubal imaging can help with pregnancy. However, when a woman’s fallopian tubes are severely blocked and the contrast medium cannot pass through the blockage, it has no effect on pregnancy. Meanwhile, women should pay attention to the following things when preparing for tubal imaging: (1) Tubal imaging should be performed 3 to 7 days after menstruation is cleared, and pregnancy should be avoided 3 months after the examination. (2) Improve the relevant examination before the imaging, which is used to exclude the contraindications. (3) Do a good job of vaginal cleansing, and actively deal with vaginal inflammation to prevent upward infection of pathogens.
