Does licorice react with fish?

It is not clear how licorice reacts with fish. Licorice is a medicinal food and fish is a food, and there is no contraindication to using the two together. Note that licorice should not be taken in large quantities or for long periods of time. Licorice has the effect of benefiting qi and tonifying the middle, easing the pain (relieving more urgent pain symptoms). It is used for treating spleen deficiency and tiredness, cough and asthma, carbuncle (which is a kind of poisonous sores, acute suppurative disease that occurs on the body surface, limbs, and internal organs) laryngeal paralysis (redness, swelling and pain in the pharynx, or dryness, foreign body sensation, or itchy discomfort in the pharynx, and difficulty in swallowing), and poisoning by medicinal food. There are more types of fish, common carp, grass carp, catfish, silver carp, etc. Generally fish and licorice taken together does not cause any adverse reaction. Note that people with chest and abdominal distension and vomiting due to the prevalence of dampness should not take licorice. Licorice should not be used in combination with seaweed, Morinda citrifolia, Glycyrrhiza glabra and Coriandrum sativum. Licorice should not be taken in large quantities or for a long period of time, as large doses taken for a long time may lead to water and sodium retention and cause edema. If there is any discomfort after taking licorice with fish, it is recommended to stop using it and seek medical advice promptly.
