If the middle and late stage of descending colon cancer has already spread, surgical treatment, chemotherapy, targeted therapy and so on should be taken according to medical advice. 1. Surgery: Usually, for patients with limited local recurrence or distant metastasis, after radiotherapy and chemotherapy, combined with surgery, they can get a better survival period. The common surgical methods include open surgery and laparoscopic surgery. After surgery, patients need to fast appropriately and gradually transition to liquid diet, and also need to follow the doctor’s instructions to do rehabilitation training, which is conducive to recovery. 2. Chemotherapy: patients can use chemotherapeutic drugs such as 5-fluorouracil, capecitabine, irinotecan, oxaliplatin and so on under the guidance of doctors to kill cancer cells, so as to achieve the therapeutic purpose. Chemotherapy can mainly kill the tiny foci of distant metastasis and reduce the chances of recurrence and metastasis. 3. Bevacizumab combined with radiotherapy also has good therapeutic effect on unresectable descending colon cancer.
