Ba Zheng San is a traditional Chinese medicine formula mainly composed of Plantago Ovata, Qu Mai, Polygonum Aviculare, Slippery Stone, Gardenia Jasminoides, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Roasted), Mutong, and Rheum Palmatum. It has the effect of clearing away heat and fire (removing heat and fire from the body), inducing diuresis, and promoting gonorrhea (frequent and astringent urination, poor gonorrhea, abdominal distension and fullness, and dry mouth and throat).
This formula is mainly used in treating damp-heat gonorrhea (increased frequency of urination, dripping and astringent pain), frequent and urgent urination, astringent pain when drowning (painful urination), unobstructed dripping (incomplete urination), muddy and reddish color of urine, or even urinary retention (incomplete dripping or incomplete urination), fullness of the abdomen, dryness of the mouth and pharynx, yellow and greasy fur on the tongue, and slippery pulse.
Bazheng San is clinically used for the treatment of cystitis, urethritis, acute prostatitis, urinary stones, pyelonephritis, postoperative or postpartum urinary retention, etc., which is characterized by dampness-heat infiltration (the invasion of dampness and heat into the intestinal tract, bladder, pubic area, lower limbs, etc.).
