Sotalol is mainly indicated for the treatment of various cardiac arrhythmias, including atrial flutter, atrial fibrillation, premature ventricular contractions, sustained and non-sustained ventricular tachycardia, and acute myocardial infarction complicated by severe arrhythmias. Adverse reactions such as bradycardia, dyspnea, fatigue, and prolongation of the QT interval can occur in patients during sotalol therapy. Sotalol is contraindicated in bronchial asthma, sinus bradycardia, second or third degree atrioventricular block (unless an effective pacemaker is placed), congenital or acquired prolonged QT interval syndrome, cardiogenic shock, uncontrolled congestive heart failure.
