What is pinched leg syndrome

The leg-holding syndrome is a group of symptoms characterized by the recurrent occurrence of crossed legs, forceful joining together, twisting of the buttocks, tense expressions, and flushing of the face. It is generally classified as a bad habit in children and is probably related to masturbation in young or adolescent females, but is not accompanied by sexual awareness. It is a habitual action that causes arousal by rubbing the pubic area with leg clenching. The main harm can make children feel inferior, fearful, depressed and affect their physical and mental health. The treatment of leg clenching syndrome is usually based on psycho-psychotherapy, which suggests a reasonable diet, attention to nutrition, and usually local symptomatic treatment to remove the causes and supplemented by psycho-behavioral guidance. Parents should not be too nervous if they find that their child has a leg-clipping habit, as an overly assertive parental attitude will increase the child’s further reinforcement of this behavior. Common causes are as follows: 1. Parents stimulate their children’s legs and perineum too much, including cleaning and care, washing and rubbing too often; 2. Pinworms, vulvar eczema or too tight pants can also cause local itching and friction; 3. Calcium deficiency leads to increased sympathetic stress; 4. Individual children’s lack of maternal love, discrimination, and lack of emotional satisfaction will carry out their own stimulation. The seizure is usually characterized by straightening, crossing, clenching or crossed inward of both lower extremities, then the legs rubbing against each other or tonic immobility, accompanied by paroxysmal body twisting, redness, sweating and voice. It is not difficult to diagnose when clinical symptoms appear, and attention should be paid to exclude psychological factors or local factors, mainly by giving psychological comfort and induction.
