There are several main reasons for high blood pressure in dialysis patients: firstly, it is necessary to evaluate the appropriateness of the dry weight of the dialysis patient, that is to say, whether there is significant water retention in the body after dialysis. In addition dialysis patients who do not control their water intake may have high blood pressure due to excessive water intake and increased blood volume. Secondly, patients on dialysis may have elevated blood pressure because dialysis removes some of the antihypertensive drugs, thus making the patient’s antihypertensive effect worse. Thirdly, if dialysis patients are dehydrated too much, it will lead to insufficient renal perfusion, which in turn will activate the renin-angiotensin system, which will lead to elevated blood pressure. Therefore, for patients with elevated blood pressure on dialysis, first of all, we need to evaluate the dry weight, we can use some antihypertensive drugs that are not easily removed by dialysis, and we can add antihypertensive drugs to dialysis, and secondly, we also need to advise patients to strictly control their water intake.
