The drug formula of Jiuwei Tang is composed of a variety of Chinese medicines such as Hanxia, Zi Hua, Huandong Hua, Ginger, Xin Xin, Agaricus and Glycyrrhiza, etc. It has the effect of lowering rebelliousness and resolving phlegm (correcting retrograde qi flow and removing phlegm from the body), relieving cough and calming wheezing.
Jiuwei Tang is from “备急千金要方”, and its drug formula is Half-summer, Aster, Flos Farfarae, Gui Xin, Ginger, Fine Xin, Colla Corii Asini, Glycyrrhiza Uralensis, etc. The dosage of the drug should be adjusted in accordance with the patient’s age, symptoms, and so on.
In the formula, Semixia is an important medicine for drying dampness and resolving phlegm (expelling dampness by drying dampness and dissolving phlegm) and lowering the rebelliousness, while Aster and Flos Farfarae are able to moisten the lungs and stop coughing.
