Can you still get pregnant with an IUD?

The birth control ring is also known as the intrauterine device (IUD). The IUD is a contraceptive device for women of childbearing age who have no contraindications to request the placement of an IUD. If the IUD is dislodged, displaced or ectopic, you may become pregnant.
1. Dislocation of IUD: If the IUD is dislodged from the uterine cavity due to the endocervical opening being too loose, the mismatch between the size of the IUD and the uterine cavity, or the quality of the IUD, then there is a possibility of unwanted pregnancy.
2. The IUD is shifted downwards: if the IUD is more than 2cm away from the bottom of the uterus due to heavy lifting, heavy menstruation during menstruation, or the endocervical opening is too loose, the IUD is shifted downwards, and the pregnancy may be unwanted at this time.
3. IUD ectopic: the IUD is placed in the middle of the uterine cavity, and if the IUD is embedded in the uterine muscle layer due to heavy physical labor or strenuous exercise, the IUD is ectopic, and the pregnancy may be unwanted.
If you need to use IUD, you need to go to gynecology clinic for a comprehensive assessment before using it. If you find any dislocation, displacement or ectopic situation during the process of using IUD, you should consult a doctor in time, and use emergency contraception under the doctor’s guidance.
