Chickenpox is not contagious after herpes scabs over the whole body and should be isolated.
Chickenpox is caused by primary infection of varicella zoster virus, the virus can exist in the mucous membrane of the upper respiratory tract and herpes fluid of chickenpox patients, 1~2 days before the onset of the disease until all the herpes scabs, are infectious.
After the virus invades the body through the respiratory tract, it first proliferates in the respiratory mucosal cells, and then spreads to the whole body with the blood, mainly involving the skin and so on. Chickenpox skin lesions in the epidermis, the echinocyte layer of cells appear swollen, ballooning degeneration, tissue fluid infiltration to form herpes, containing a large number of viruses.
Patients should pay attention to respiratory isolation until all herpes scabs. Meanwhile, their contaminated utensils, etc. need to be sterilized by boiling or sunlight, etc. If there is any discomfort, it is recommended to seek prompt medical attention for diagnosis and treatment.
