Can potassium permanganate and iodophor be used together?

Potassium permanganate and iodophor are not to be applied together. Both potassium permanganate and iodophor have strong oxidizing properties that destroy bacteria and pathogenic microorganisms. However, the simultaneous application of the two drugs may cause a chemical reaction that may affect the effectiveness of disinfection. Potassium permanganate is mainly used in sitz baths or soaks, and the disinfectant solution needs to be prepared on the spot, while iodophor is applied directly to the affected area, and iodophor is much less irritating to the skin. In order to improve the disinfection effect, the affected area can be soaked in potassium permanganate, then washed and dried with water before applying iodophor to the affected area.
