Don’t let the hair strangle the baby’s hands and feet

Recently, we have seen two babies under the age of one year in a row in the outpatient clinic, who came to the hospital because they “cried a lot and were found by their families to have red and swollen toes”. After immediate removal of the hairs and release of the embedded pressure, the swelling and pain gradually subsided and the color of the toe gradually improved. (Figure 2 fourth toe end of the gauze for the removal of fine hair) The weather turns cold, baby’s hands and feet are often wrapped in thick clothes, baby unintentionally grabbed in the hand or between the toe hair (sometimes the clothes off the silk thread), because of the fingers and toes non-stop activity, often wrapped around the fingers or toes, the beginning of a mild embedded pressure, so that the superficial venous reflux is blocked, while the pressure is higher, the position of the deeper arterial blood flow is still The distal end of the fingers and toes is like a tire inflating, only in and out, causing the distal swelling to gradually intensify, and the inlay pressure to gradually deepen, forming a vicious circle, and eventually the hair and other foreign objects are deeply embedded in the flesh, forming a local infection, found early, like the above-mentioned children, remove the stranded hair or fine silk thread, blood circulation can be immediately restored, and the inflammation gradually improve; such as late detection, or inlay pressure is not lifted in a timely manner, eventually resulting in arterial blood supply Impaired, the affected hands and toes necrosis off or need to perform amputation (toe) surgery, resulting in varying degrees of disability of the baby, parents lifelong regret. Clinically, there is also a congenital girdle syndrome, one or more ring-shaped grooves on the limb, due to the abnormal ring-shaped girdle in the limb, with the development and growth of the child, gradually causing strangulation, resulting in insufficient blood supply to the distal limb, further resulting in impaired development of the affected limb, also requires surgery. In severe cases, congenital amputation (or finger and toe) is formed in the fetus. As most babies are fat, chubby, wrists and ankles themselves have circular grooves, hair and threads and other tissues embedded in time to find, winter hands and feet wrapped in quilts is also not easy to find the main reason, so it is necessary for young parents to check the baby’s hands and feet every day, instantly remove the hair and threads in the baby’s hands and feet, so as not to cause unnecessary damage to the baby.
