Gastric cancer is one of the most dangerous malignant tumors in the world today, and also one of the tumors with high mortality rate. Clinically, the treatment methods of gastric cancer mainly include surgical resection, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and Chinese medicine. Clinical experience shows that single treatment method for gastric cancer has certain limitations, and so far, the best treatment method is to combine the advantages of various therapies for comprehensive treatment of gastric cancer. The choice of comprehensive treatment plan for gastric cancer needs to be considered in conjunction with the patient’s condition and physical function. Generally speaking, if the early gastric cancer is small and has not spread and metastasized, the most effective treatment is surgical resection, and the 5-year survival rate after resection can reach 60%-90%. If there are residual lesions, radiotherapy or chemotherapy combined with TCM treatment is feasible to eliminate the residual cancer. Comprehensive treatment of middle and late stage gastric cancer: clinically, the mode of combined radiotherapy and chemotherapy + TCM treatment is mostly adopted. If the patient’s physical function can tolerate surgery, local excision should be performed as early as possible, and radiotherapy + TCM treatment should be adopted after surgery. If the disease is late and cannot tolerate surgical excision, radiotherapy + TCM treatment is feasible, which can combine the treatment advantages of TCM and Western medicine on one hand, and Chinese medicine can reduce the damage of radiotherapy to human body and speed up the recovery of patient’s physical function on the other hand. If the patient’s physical condition is too weak to tolerate western medical treatment, or if western medical treatments are no longer effective, conservative treatment with TCM alone can extend the survival period and improve the quality of survival to a certain extent. In general, combining the strengths of various treatment methods for comprehensive treatment of gastric cancer is the clinical treatment principle of gastric cancer, and the choice of treatment plan should be considered together with the patient’s physical condition.
