What to do if dimples are not obvious

The dimple, also known as the smile dimple, is a dimple in the skin of the cheek located at the outer corner of the mouth. Its formation is mostly congenital and is controlled by a dominant genetic predisposition. Dimpleplasty can be performed if the dimples are not obvious. According to current surgical cases, it is impossible to distinguish between natural dimples and artificial dimples. There are many methods of dimpleplasty, all of which are relatively simple and are usually performed in the mouth, so no skin scars are left behind. The commonly used methods are suturing, ligation, incision and sclerotherapy. The specific choice of which method to choose should be based on the specific situation combined with the actual situation and needs of the candidate to develop a surgical plan. In the early post-operative period, the dimples may not be natural enough due to the sutures and growth scars, i.e. the dimples may appear with or without facial expressions, lacking dynamic beauty. The dimples usually return to normal after a few weeks. Since dimple surgery is a plastic surgery for the lower 1/3 of the face, if needed, it can be performed simultaneously with other facial round plastic surgery such as cheek fat pad removal to form a coordinated facial contour more easily and with more ideal results.
