What does self-exempted liver mean?

Self-immune liver is known as autoimmune hepatitis, mainly due to autoimmune reaction mediated by the liver to produce chronic inflammatory reaction, the etiology and pathogenesis are not very clear, most of them are the result of genetics, immune regulation dysfunction and predisposing factors. Clinical symptoms mainly include malaise, generalized discomfort, drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, etc. The examination mainly shows elevated aminotransferases, positive autoantibodies, etc. Pathological examination mainly shows lymphocyte and plasma cell infiltration of interfacial hepatitis, and the severe cases can be further developed into liver cirrhosis and liver failure. The main goal of autoimmune hepatitis treatment is to relieve symptoms, improve liver function and pathologic tissue abnormalities, and slow the progression to liver fibrosis. It can be treated with glucocorticoids (prednisone, dexamethasone, etc.) alone or in combination with azathioprine. Patients should seek prompt medical attention to clarify the diagnosis and follow the doctor’s instructions.
