Fluvastatin is useful in the treatment of primary hypercholesterolemia and primary mixed dyslipidemia that are not fully controlled by diet; adverse reactions such as mild gastrointestinal discomfort, insomnia, headache, and abnormal reduction in platelets may occur with the use of this drug. Fluvastatin has the effect of inhibiting the key enzyme of cholesterol synthesis, thus lowering cholesterol levels; when dietary control is ineffective, the drug may be used in the treatment of primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia. Adverse reactions such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, insomnia, headache, thrombocytopenia, allergy, and hepatitis may occur with the use of this drug. Most of the adverse reactions can be recovered after stopping the drug or adjusting the drug regimen under the guidance of a physician, while serious adverse reactions require symptomatic treatment. However, unauthorized adjustment of the drug regimen is absolutely prohibited. The drug is contraindicated in cases of hypersensitivity to the drug, active liver disease, pregnancy and lactation, severe renal impairment. It is also recommended to use the drug with caution in cases of hypothyroidism, alcoholism, sepsis, hypotension. Fluvastatin needs to be used under the guidance of a clinician and unauthorized use is prohibited.
