Diabetic retinopathy – early knowledge of the course of the disease in one chart of the fundus

  Diabetes is one of the most prevalent diseases in China, and according to incomplete statistics, the total number of people suffering from the disease exceeded 120 million two years ago, making it the country with the highest prevalence of diabetes in the world. Diabetes is the source of all diseases, especially eye, heart, blood vessel, kidney and other organ damage, which can lead to disability or death in serious cases. Diabetic retinopathy is the second most common complication, accounting for 20%-34% of cases. Diabetic retinopathy is the most common and serious complication, which can lead to severe vision loss and even blindness.  Early detection and early intervention are the most effective means of preventing and treating diabetic retinopathy. Diabetic patients should actively undergo eye examinations. Fundus photography can see whether there are blebs, exudates, proliferating membranes, retinal traction and other complications in the fundus, and fundus angiography can clearly see the staging and lesions of the retina. Treatment such as fundus laser is performed according to the fundus angiogram to prevent serious complications.  Fundus examination for diabetic retinopathy should be done once a year, and the program includes fundus photography and peripheral retinal examination. Fundus angiography and OCT examination should be performed every 3-5 years according to the development of fundus lesions to clarify the progression of the disease. Therefore fundus a map of the disease progression and regression of treatment to prevent the occurrence of serious fundus lesions and even blindness.
