Tobramycin ear drops will not cause deafness. Tobramycin belongs to the aminoglycoside class of antibiotics and is mainly used for ophthalmic diseases such as purulent conjunctivitis, infectious conjunctivitis, mydriasis and chalazion, but it will not cause deafness, otitis externa or other corresponding diseases after inadvertently dropping into the ear. Because tobramycin itself belongs to the antibiotic class, if there is perforation of the eardrum of the external ear canal or purulent otitis media, it is recommended to use oxyfloxacin ear drops and lomefloxacin ear drops twice a day, which are usually more effective, and the clinical treatment course is usually two weeks. If the symptoms do not improve significantly after treatment, electronic otoscopy or CT of the mastoid process in both ears is feasible if necessary to investigate the possibility of granulation formation in the middle ear cavity or the formation of middle ear mastoiditis.
