How to check if liver function is normal

For the patient’s question about how to check whether the liver function is normal, it is recommended that the patient have a formal medical examination. First, the patient needs to have routine blood tests and liver function. Second, the patient needs to further check the ultrasound of the upper abdomen and, if necessary, other imaging correlations. If the patient’s upper abdominal ultrasound indicates an enlarged or shrunken liver, as well as an occupying lesion in the liver or an echogenic thickening of the liver, it is important to further improve the examination. Further investigations should be performed to see if there is liver fibrosis or cirrhosis, or if there is a possibility of occupying lesions in the liver. If necessary, the patient will also need to have a blood test for alpha-fetoprotein to see if it is elevated. Look for patients with chronic viral hepatitis B, or chronic viral hepatitis C. If the patient’s liver function blood test indicates that the glutathione aminotransferase and glutamic oxalacetic aminotransferase are normal, it mostly indicates that the patient’s liver function is normal. If there is an elevation of GTA and GLTA, the patient is considered to have hepatocellular necrosis and liver insufficiency, and the patient is considered to have other liver diseases. In particular, for elevated values of GLTA and GTA greater than 100 U/L, patients should further exclude viral hepatitis and autoimmune hepatitis, as well as whether the patient has been drinking alcohol or taking medication for a long time.
