Patients with intestinal polyps can be re-examined every six months to a year, combined with the results of biopsy of the specimen taken under the colonoscopy to determine whether to further treatment.
Intestinal polyps are abnormal growth of prominent tissue in the intestinal mucosa, commonly found in the colon and rectum, polyps can be divided into inflammatory and adenomatous two kinds, although benign, but there is still the possibility of malignant changes. Symptoms include blood in the stool, abdominal pain, and anemia if bleeding is excessive.
It is recommended to take a specimen biopsy under enteroscopy. Benign ones can be treated without intervention, and enteroscopy can be repeated every six months or once a year. If the polyp becomes malignant, the polyp needs to be removed or the intestinal segment needs to be resected.
It is recommended that patients with intestinal polyps develop good dietary and bowel habits, follow the doctor’s instructions for regular review, and avoid blindly using medication on their own.
