Is it serious for a middle school student to have 4.2 myopia?

Simply by looking at the visual acuity, it is not possible to determine whether the myopia patient’s condition is serious or not. One should also observe whether there are changes in the fundus of the eye and whether the eyeball is protruding or not.
Visual acuity alone cannot determine the severity of myopia. If the patient has myopic fundus lesions, such as macular atrophy, and if the patient’s eyeballs are becoming more and more protruding, and if the anterior and posterior diameters of the eyeballs are growing significantly, then the patient’s myopia is serious.
If the patient’s fundus is normal and the eye axis is within the normal range, myopia is not very serious. The patient’s poor vision may be caused by other reasons.
Myopia belongs to a kind of refractive error. When the patient’s eyes are in a relaxed state of regulation, parallel light rays enter the eyes and focus in front of the retina, resulting in the inability to form a clear image on the retina, which is called myopia. Patients can improve their vision by wearing glasses or refractive surgery to correct myopia.
Myopia patients with poor vision are advised to seek prompt medical attention to assess their condition and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
