Fasting 7.3 blood sugar, do I need treatment?

A fasting blood glucose of 7.3 mmol/L usually requires treatment once diabetes is diagnosed if factors affecting blood glucose such as stress are excluded. The normal range of fasting blood glucose is generally 3.9~6.1mmol/L, so fasting blood glucose 7.3mmol/L is on the high side, not normal, and reaches the standard of being able to diagnose diabetes mellitus (i.e., fasting blood glucose is greater than or equal to 7.0mmol/L); it should be combined with the glucose tolerance test and other tests to make a comprehensive judgment, and to diagnose whether or not diabetes mellitus exists. Once the diagnosis of diabetes mellitus is confirmed, it is necessary to carry out dietary adjustments, appropriate physical exercise and the use of insulin, metformin and other oral hypoglycemic drugs to maintain blood glucose within a reasonable range. Fasting blood glucose abnormalities are recommended to go to the hospital.
