How to treat an intestinal adenoma of 4 centimeters

Intestinal adenoma usually refers to colorectal adenoma, and intestinal adenoma of 4 centimeters usually requires surgical treatment.
Colorectal adenoma is closely related to colorectal cancer, and some studies believe that at least 80% of colorectal cancer is evolved from colorectal adenoma. Clinical manifestations may include blood in the stool, diarrhea, or increased frequency of bowel movement in varying degrees, and even intussusception or with intestinal obstruction and other symptoms. Therefore, for colorectal adenomas without malignant changes and with relatively small tumors, surgical treatment should be considered as soon as the adenomas are detected.
Most of the adenomas can be resected microscopically, and the methods of microscopic resection include biopsy forceps coagulation method, coil coagulation method, and electrocoagulator cauterization method, etc. For the chorionic broad-based adenomas with a diameter of more than 2cm, enteroscopy usually cannot be resected, and they should be surgically resected in general. No further treatment is required for those without cancerous lesions in postoperative examination, and different treatment modalities should be further selected for those with cancerous lesions.
For patients who are detected with intestinal adenomas, doctors will formulate appropriate treatment plans according to the specific conditions of the patients, and patients are advised to follow the doctor’s instructions.
