The current internationally accepted standard is to use the criteria revised by the American Board of Spinal Cord Injury in 2000, known as the ASIA neurological classification criteria (modified Frankel index): Grade A, complete impairment. Below the plane of spinal cord injury, including the sacral segment (S4 to S5) without any functional preservation of sensation and movement; Grade B, incomplete injury. Below the plane of injury, including the sacral segment (S4 to S5), there is sensory function but no motor function; Grade C, incomplete injury. Sensory and motor function exist below the plane of injury, but muscle strength of most key muscles is <3; Grade D, incomplete impairment. Sensory and motor functions exist below the plane of injury and the muscle strength of the major key muscles is ≥ grade 3; Grade E, normal sensory and motor functions are normal.
