Annoying Pediatric Tonsillitis

The tonsils are the largest lymphoid tissue in the pharynx and an important immune organ for children. When foreign bacteria and viruses invade the body, the tonsils bear the brunt of the invasion, and the lymphocytes and antibodies in the tonsils can destroy and control the invading germs and stop the foreign evil from rushing in. If there are too many invading germs, or if the body’s resistance decreases, the tonsils’ defenses are weakened and inflammation can occur. Acute tonsillitis is often characterized by high fever, sore throat, swollen red tonsils, fear of swallowing and eating, and in younger children, drooling and inappetence, and in severe cases, several purulent spots on the tonsils, also known as purulent tonsillitis, when the fever is higher and lasts longer. Acute tonsillitis repeatedly can evolve into chronic tonsillitis, and repeated episodes of acute tonsillitis can easily be complicated by a variety of diseases, such as acute nephritis, myocarditis, rheumatic fever and other serious lesions. Some children come to the clinic with frequent snoring during sleep and bad breath, and many of these manifestations are related to chronic tonsillitis. Is the recurrent inflammation of chronically enlarged tonsils the only way to surgically remove the tonsils? The tonsils are an important immune organ that is involved in the overall activities of the body’s immune system, so it is not advisable to remove them easily. The first acute tonsillitis, intravenous application of antimicrobial agents, generally in the swollen tonsils completely back to normal before stopping the drug, chronic tonsillitis acute attacks, also to the static point, the course of treatment is generally in about 1 week, to completely control the inflammation, do not fever recede without discomfort symptoms that stop the drug. The children who have formed long-term tonsil enlargement can usually take herbal treatment, not only to shrink the enlarged tonsils, treat the latent infection, eliminate the symptoms of snoring, bad breath, pharyngeal discomfort; but also to adjust the body’s inherent imbalance of yin and yang, remove the internal causes, in order to reduce recurrent acute attacks, the general treatment time of Chinese medicine in about 2 months, can obtain better results.
