What is posterior hypopharyngeal ring cancer?



Posterior hypopharyngeal cricoid carcinoma is a special type of hypopharyngeal cancer, originating from the posterior region of the hypopharyngeal cricoid, and the pathologic type of squamous cell carcinoma is the most common, with atypical early symptoms.

The hypopharynx, also called laryngopharynx, includes the pear-shaped fossa on both sides and the posterior cricoid region, which is located in the lower dorsal part of the larynx, and hypopharyngeal carcinoma originating from the posterior cricoid region is called hypopharyngeal posterior cricoid carcinoma.

Clinically, squamous cell carcinoma is the most common pathological type. Early symptoms of malignant tumors located in this area are usually atypical, and early patients often show pharyngeal discomfort, with the progression of the disease, hoarseness, dysphagia, and enlarged lymph nodes may occur.
