Adnexitis is usually an inflammation of the fallopian tubes and ovaries in women, when the pain is on the left and right side of the lower abdomen. The pain may be persistent in the left lower abdomen, or in the right lower abdomen, or even in both sides at the same time. In more severe cases of inflammation, it may also cause rebound pain in the abdomen and even lead to discomfort such as nausea, vomiting and anal swelling. Since the vast majority of adnexal inflammation is unlikely to heal on its own, it is important to use antibiotic anti-inflammatory and pain relief treatment as soon as possible to avoid acute adnexitis turning into chronic adnexitis. No medication has been found to cure chronic adnexitis, so it is important to cure acute adnexitis as soon as possible after it is detected.
