What to do if heart failure cannot be cured

A part of acute heart failure can be cured through timely treatment, but chronic heart failure is generally incurable. Patients with chronic heart failure can be treated with general therapy, medication and surgery to alleviate the symptoms and slow down the progress of the disease.
1. General treatment: patients with chronic heart failure should pay attention to rest, avoid exertion, need to ensure sufficient sleep time, avoid staying up late. Diet should be low-salt and low-fat to ensure sufficient energy and nutrients, control the amount of water intake, avoid stress, anxiety and other negative emotions, and maintain a calm and stable state of mind.
2. Drug therapy: patients with chronic heart failure can take furosemide, hydrochlorothiazide and other diuretics under the guidance of a doctor to reduce the burden on the heart by increasing urination. You can also take angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors such as captopril and benazepril as prescribed by your doctor to improve your heart function.
3. Surgical treatment: If the patient has persistent heart failure, heart transplantation can be considered, but the success rate is low and a suitable organ supplier is required.
Patients are advised to actively cooperate with their doctors. Long-term treatment may be needed to alleviate the symptoms and thus improve the quality of life.
