Should the tonsils be removed? This is a question that we often get in the clinic. By tonsils, we mean the palatine tonsils, which are located on both sides of the pharyngeal cavity, one on each side. Together with the adenoids and lingual tonsils, they form the pharyngeal lymphatic ring and are involved in the cellular and humoral immunity of the body until the age of 12. This is what we call “resistance”.
If the tonsils have immune functions, why do we need to remove them?
1.Tonsils inflammation more than three times a year and accompanied by high fever.
2, tonsils, adenoids hypertrophy blocked breathing, snoring, otitis media, hearing loss.
3.Tonsils inflammation when the blood test anti-chain “O” significantly increased, or has caused rheumatic heart disease, rheumatoid arthritis, glomerulonephritis.
4.There are new organisms on the tonsils. Children can eat and drink, but they do not grow and have frequent inflammation of the tonsils.
Therefore, the decision to cut or not to cut should be made after a professional doctor’s examination and an objective judgment. There is no scientific basis for the suggestion that if the tonsils are removed, the infection will go to the lower respiratory tract. On the contrary, if the tonsils are removed, the cold will disappear naturally and the child will grow significantly taller within six months. This is my 30 years of experience. Finally, I would like to remind you that 2% of people who have frequent tonsillitis as children, especially women, have a tendency to develop malignant changes, that is, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and I personally recommend that they should be cut and not appeased.
