It is not possible to determine the severity of the gallbladder wall thickness of 0.4cm alone. It is recommended to supplement ultrasound and CT to clarify the cause of gallbladder wall thickening before judging whether it is serious or not. Normal gallbladder wall thickness ≤2mm, the patient’s examination results show that the gallbladder wall thickening is greater than normal, suggesting that the patient may have chronic or acute cholecystitis, usually the gallbladder wall thickening is due to gallbladder stones or cholecystitis, usually not serious. If the wall thickness of the gallbladder is 0.4cm, but the wall thickening is obvious (e.g., more than 1cm) after six months of review, and the thickening rate is too fast, the patient needs to be vigilant for malignant changes, which is a more serious situation. It is recommended that the patient go to the hepatobiliary surgery department of the local hospital to have a professional doctor assess whether treatment is needed and to choose the treatment method. Patients do not need to be overly panicked, follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment, and do not take medication on their own.
