Where is the tip of the heart?

The location of the apex of the heart is mostly located 1-2 cm medial to the intersection of the 5th intercostal space and the midclavicular line on the left side. The apical part of the heart is rounded and free, with a left ventricular component, which is normally oriented towards the left anterior and inferior part of the healthy human body, and is close to the left side of the chest wall. The location is 1-2 cm medial to the intersection of the left 5th rib space and the midclavicular line, and the apical beat can be palpated. If the right ventricle is enlarged due to diseases such as pulmonary heart disease, the heart tip may move to the left, and in severe right ventricular hypertrophy, the heart tip may show negative apical beat; if the left ventricle is enlarged due to diseases such as mitral insufficiency, the heart tip may move to the left downward, and show lifting-like apical beats. If you find an abnormal apical position combined with clinical symptoms such as dyspnea, it is recommended that you go to a regular hospital to avoid delaying your condition.
