Although both Er Miao Pill and Si Miao Pill treat dampness-heat in the lower Jiao, their indications are different, and they should be chosen and taken under the guidance of a TCM practitioner. If the lower limbs are poisonous (acute infectious disease, visible redness of the skin like paint), leucorrhea, etc., it is recommended to take Er Sec Pill. Four Miaowan is recommended for tendon and bone pain, redness and swelling of the feet and knees, and impotence of the lower limbs caused by dampness-heat injection.
Er Miao Pill, containing the composition of Cang Zhu and Huang Bai, has the efficacy of clearing heat and drying dampness; while Si Miao Pill, on the basis of Er Miao Pill, has added Ox Knee and Coix Seed, which has the efficacy of clearing heat and inducing dampness, and tonifying the liver and kidney.
Both of them can be used for dampness and heat in the lower burner, but Er Miao Pill is mainly used for the treatment of dampness and heat infiltration (dampness and heat invading the intestines, bladder, pubic area, lower limbs, etc.) caused by lower limb dengtoxin, leucorrhoea, and redness, swelling and heat pain in the feet and knees; while Four Miaos Pill is mainly used for the treatment of tendon and bone pains caused by dampness and heat infiltration, redness and swelling of the feet and knees, numbness of the feet and legs, and impotence of the lower limbs. Pregnant women are advised to use it with caution.
