Rectal serrated adenoma should be treated appropriately depending on the patient’s condition. The best treatment is the one that suits the patient’s condition. Rectal serrated adenoma belongs to a kind of benign neoplastic lesion, which may become cancerous if it is allowed to develop. According to the severity, it can be treated by endoscopic mucosal dissection, laparoscopic surgery and open surgery in most cases. 1. Endoscopic mucosal dissection: If the adenoma is small in size and does not cause bleeding or cancerous symptoms, endoscopic mucosal dissection can be chosen to treat it. The adenoma can be removed by peeling off the mucous membrane layer and the mucous membrane muscle layer under gastroscope or enteroscope. 2. Laparoscopic surgery: if the size of the adenoma is large and the location is special, you can choose laparoscopic surgery to treat it by removing the adenoma and the surrounding intestines and stomach wall under laparoscopy. As it is a minimally invasive surgery, it is less traumatic and the postoperative recovery is faster. 3. Open laparotomy: for adenomas of large size, open laparotomy can also be chosen as a treatment method, in which the peritoneum is opened to enter the abdominal cavity for the resection of adenomas and the surrounding tissues, and the local lymph nodes can be cleared if necessary, so as to achieve the purpose of complete resection of adenomas. The resected tissues should be sent to the pathology department for examination after the operation to prevent the occurrence of adenoma cancer, and regular follow-up examinations should be conducted.
