Treatment of esophagogastric fundus varices

Esophagogastric fundus varices can be relieved mainly by general treatment, drug treatment and surgery.
1. General treatment: patients should pay attention to their diet, try to take light and easy-to-digest food as the mainstay, avoid eating foods that are irritating to the gastric mucosa such as chili pepper, garlic, ice cream and other foods that are difficult to digest such as barbecue, so as to avoid irritation to the digestive tract, which may lead to bleeding. At the same time, pay attention to quit smoking and drinking, avoid staying up late, and strengthen the exercise appropriately.
2. Drug treatment: patients can take growth inhibitors and other drugs to reduce portal pressure and minimize bleeding; take omeprazole, lansoprazole and other proton pump inhibitors to inhibit the secretion of gastric acid and reduce the stimulation of gastric mucosa by gastric acid; if accompanied by bacterial infections, antibiotics such as gentamicin and other antibiotics can be taken at the same time for anti-infective treatment.
3. Surgery: For patients with large amount of bleeding, which is difficult to be controlled by medication, surgical treatment, such as endoscopic ligation of esophageal varices, can also be considered.
Patients with fundal varices are advised to consult a doctor in time and receive treatment actively. The medication should be taken strictly according to the doctor’s prescription, and should not be used on its own, so as not to delay or even aggravate the condition.
